Hockey Update Sep 2017 #1

Junior Grand FinalsFrom our supporters dressed up in pink or black, to coaches and managers pulling their hair out, to the players that worked their hearts out on the hockey fields.  The 2017 Junior Grand Finals was a wonderful spectacle of junior hockey and a fabulous show for our club.  It is a wonderful achievement to be playing in a grand final and 5 of our junior teams got that experience on Saturday.   Our J3 Boys came back from 1 goal behind to tie and share the premiership trophy with Maroochydore.  At the same time our J2 Girls Pink played a very close and exciting game and reversed last years grand final to beat Nambour this time round.  Our J3 Girls Black team played beautifully and skillfully, but without an ounce of luck and went down by a solitary goal.  The J1 Girls had played brilliantly in the semi final to beat Maroochydore but as it often happens between games, the forms were reversed and Maroochydore took out the grand final.  Our J1 Boys saved the best performance for last, they were composed and in control to win the major premiership and extend the J1B legacy to 4 premierships in a row.   Click here for the Finals scores and other results.

Senior Knock Out Finals
The Division 1 Women’s team had a tough and exciting game against last years premiers Nambour.  The more experienced Nambour team settled into the game early and had control of the game finishing the first half 2 goals up.  The coach’s half time talk must have been good because our team came out firing in the second half and threw absolutely everything at Nambour.  Our team scored a goal mid-way through the second half and continued to pour on the pressure but Nambour held on to their 1 goal advantage in the end.  Unfortunately that concludes the finals games for our senior teams, click their here for the Finals scores and other results.

Thank you to everyone that helped out to do the Canteen and Bar during the Club Duty.  It is the busiest day of the hockey year, so well done for surviving the day.
