History
In 1986, a group of 11 hockey-loving ladies playing in the Sunshine Coast Hockey Association's women's competition made the decision to breakaway from their current clubs and form their own team to play in moving forward.
Labelled a bunch of "Rebels" by the local hockey community, the ladies secured a local business Readymix Concrete to sponsor them and in return named their new team the "Readymix Rebels", entering the Sunshine Coast Hockey Association competition in 1987.
Using Readymix Concrete's signature pink concrete trucks as inspiration for the very first playing uniform, our club colours of pink, grey and black were born.
These 11 women are the founding legends of our club and warmly referred to as the “Original 11 Rebels".
With a strong focus on family and friendships, it was only natural that many husbands, sons, daughters and friends were called upon to also become "Rebels" culminating in the formation of a Senion Mens; Junior Boys; and Junior Girls Rebels teams in the ensuing years.
From these humble and rebellious beginnings, BRHC has grown to become one of the Sunshine Coast’s most successful family-orientated hockey and sporting clubs.
BRHC would like to acknowledge the club's founding members - the "Original 11 Rebels"
